The Sinabung manifested itself three times in 24 hours: after the eruption episode of 6:29 on May 27 (reported yesterday), another occurred on the same day at 23:23 WIB; the height of the eruptive column could not be observed. The seismographic recording indicates a maximum amplitude of 70 mm, lasting 12 minutes 36 seconds.

This morning, May 28 at 1:18 WIB, a third episode was recorded with a max amplitude. 120 mm and a duration of 2 minutes 32 seconds; the height of the plume could not be observed due to fog and night.

The level of alert remains at 3 / siaga, with a prohibited zone between 3 and 5 km radius depending on the sector.

A recovery in inflation seems to be taking shape in the Piton de La Fournaise, recorded under the summit zone (pressurization of a superficial source) and in the far field (pressurization of a deep source).

In recent days, the number of volcano-tectonic earthquakes is up: 8 on Friday and Saturday, 14 this Sunday, and 31 earthquakes VT on May 27.

CO2 emissions are high and stable in the distal zone, at Plaine des Cafres, and in the proximal zone, at the Gîte du Volcan.

The alert level remains vigilant.

At Dukono, on the island of Halmahera, ash emissions continue to justify an orange aviation code for May 28 by VAAC Darwin.

The PVMBG informs for May 27, 2 earthquakes of eruption, a volcanic earthquake and continuous tremor of amplitude between 0.5 and 6 mm, dominating to 1 mm.

A white to gray plume is observed 800 meters above the summit.

The activity level remains at 2 / waspada, with a 2 km radius prohibited area around the Malupang Warirang crater.

In New Zealand, the seismic swarm started last Thursday at White Island increased in number and magnitude of earthquakes. Of the 196 earthquakes, 22 of magnitude 3 or higher were observed on Saturday; the largest of magnitude 3.9, M3.8 and M3.8 respectively.

These earthquakes appear to be of a tectonic nature, unrelated to volcanic processes, according to the GNS. The activity parameters of the volcano do not change, but the risk of landslides is increasing, because earthquakes are localized, superficial, and affect weak materials.

The volcanic alert remains at level 1 and the aviation code is green.
